A passenger airliner has skidded off the runway at LaGuardia airport in New York City amid snowy conditions.
Emergency officials were called to the airport at about 11:00 local time (16:00 GMT) but no major injuries have been reported.
Pictures show the plane, a Delta MD-88, resting on an embankment having pushed through a fence.
Authorities said the 127 passengers and 5 crew members safely exited the plane despite emergency slides not deploying.
Heavy snow has been falling in New York since earlier Thursday morning.
"That runway had been ploughed literally minutes before, and other pilots had reported good breaking action," New York and New Jersey Port Authority Director Patrick Foye told reporters.
The flight, Delta 1086, was attempting to land at LaGuardia after flying from Atlanta. It veered to the left shortly after making contact with the runway, but avoided crashing into nearby Flushing Bay.
Two passengers were transported to a hospital, but no serious injuries have been reported.
At one point the plane was leaking petrol, but emergency responders were able to stop the leak.
The airport has been closed, and is expected to reopen at 19:00 local time, Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) says.
Planes en route to the LaGuardia have been diverted to nearby airports.
The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has been dispatched to the scene, Mr Foye said.
A safety barrier was added to the end of a runway in 2005, which is designed to slow or stop a plane that overruns the runway.
Emergency responders regularly practice for this type of emergency. Two drills have taken place in the last three weeks, Mr Foye said.
LaGuardia is one of the most difficult airports to land at in the US to due its close proximity to three other busy airports.
